Leveraging your IT Investments to Take the Hype out of the Hyper-clouds | ThinkOn | CORE
Key Message: The global hyper-clouds would have you believe there is an imperative to transition your existing VMware based workload to their alternative hyper-visors – this is simply NOT TRUE. There is a far less complicated cloud alternative that is much simpler, requiring no workload transformation, can be migrated while running and is significantly more cost-effective. Learning Outcomes: ThinkOn's leadership will explain how to leverage existing VMware investments and integrate with edge cloud resources to achieve on-demand IT without retooling operations or retraining staff. The session will include a walkthrough of Cornerstone, a turn-key, VMware powered infrastructure designed for customer premise or edge cloud deployment. Attendees will learn how VMware HCX enables zero-effort, bi-directional workload mobility between legacy infrastructure and ThinkOn’s cloud services. Future-Ready vs Future-Proof: ThinkOn will also provide an overview of its integration strategy for VMware’s emerging and future ready cloud innovations like NSX, Workspace ONE and Tanzu.

How Softchoice Leveraged NSX-T and SRM to Simplify DR Across Multiple Data Centers | Softchoice | EMERGING
Join Solution Engineers from Softchoice as they walk through a real-life scenario that simplified their customer’s DR requirements and implemented a “first of its kind” solution using NSX-T with SRM. They’ll dive into the following: The Challenge: - With data centers (DCs) physically located apart from each other, what is the best way to enable rapid failovers to a distant DC without re-IPing machines? - What is the best way to enable and quickly activate a DR strategy for a variety of failover scenarios? The Solution: - Partnering with VMware, the latest versions of NSX-T and SRM were used to design a solution to: 1. Create a L2 stretch between datacenters without making changes to the physical networks using VMware NSX-T. 2. Layer on Site Recovery Manager to allow for automation of failure between the two sites 3. Apply Softchoice expertise to develop an agile DR strategy that included best practices and implementation protocols for a variety of failover scenarios The Results: - The outcomes, the experiences and the lessons learned along the way

From PowerCLI to API – Taking Your Automation Skills to the Next Level | Community | CORE
Are you looking to unlock the power of the entire vSphere API with PowerCLI? This session is going to focus on how to take, even the most basic, PowerCLI knowledge and use it to interact with each of the vSphere API services. We will cover some core concepts about PowerShell and PowerCLI, then look at some side-by-side comparisons between .NET objects returned by native PowerCLI cmdlets, the vSphere objects returned by Get-View cmdlet, and finally the vSphere API for automation. We'll also use the vCenter API for reporting and basic automation tasks, while comparing the performance to PowerCLI cmdlets. While this may be slightly more difficult to understand, the performance benefits can be dramatic, and learning how to interact with the vCenter API can translate to other platforms outside of PowerCLI for automation.
